1
Week One - What is Yoga for Menopause & Why are we Here?
Week One is about establishing knowledge in the context of creating a safe place for sharing, through gentle and familiar movements, simple breath practices and meditation. Understanding how we can regulate our nervous system responses to the chronic stress of major life milestones will be a core theme. Together we will learn from each other's lived experiences, discuss definitions and stages of the menopause transition, tackle the myths of menopause and aging, and establish trust in the co-creation of community values and goals.
2
Week Two - Bone & Muscle Health & GUEST EXPERT on Nutrition in Menopause
The musculoskeletal syndrome of menopause is a real problem for many people in transition and include a range of symptoms including joint pain, frozen shoulder, loss of lean muscle mass and flexibility. By focusing on whole body muscle strength (especially the spine, core and legs) and interrupting bone loss, participants will learn how to safely adapt some of their favorite poses to feel physically and mentally strong - all of which has cardiovascular benefts too. We will be joined by RCN Jessica Hoffman to support a discussion on sustaining physical strength & the importance of addressing health at every size and the nutritional considerations of menopause.
3
Week Three - Brain Health & GUEST EXPERT on Menopause Hormone Therapy
Did you know that menopause starts and ends in the brain, and not the ovaries? Estrogen loss is just one of many neurotransmitters behind some of the most common symptoms of menopause that originate in our brains including brain fog, concentration, insomnia, mood and overall energy issues. Participants will learn about the menopause brain, new skills and tools for balance, mood, energy creation, sleep disturbance and overall cognitive health. We will be joined by Seattle Menopause Medicine MD, Dr. Naomi Busch to support a general discussion on hormonal therapy as well as the origin of the myths and confusion surrounding MHT in a Q&A format.
