About Me.

Nice to meet you! My name is Roisin and I was born and raised in Ireland, emigrated to Canada in the 80s and to the U.S. in the 90s, I'm a Seattle-based yoga facilitator, community volunteer, nonprofit marketing consultant, partner and parent.

I'm a certified Menopause Yoga facilitator, Trauma-Informed Yoga Teacher and 200HR RYT through Yoga Alliance with over 500 hours of specialized training and teaching experience. Thanks to my teachers and the doors they have opened for me, I have facilitated yoga classes in public studios, community settings (schools, jails, nonprofit boards) and online for friends & family.

I teach yoga through many lenses, firstly through my own lived experiences as a queer white woman, as an immigrant from a country where my native language and culture was suppressed for hundreds of years provoking generations of political, economic and social trauma from the impact of colonial oppression. I apply a first-hand experience of the bio-psycho-social experience of the menopause transition as well as a deep understanding of the impact of small "t" and big "T" trauma that can arise through the process of reclaiming one's true identity and place in midlife.

As someone who has spent considerable time in community as a volunteer and non-profit marketing consultant, I'm deeply aware of the intersectional nature of the human experience, the source of suffering and the expression of joy. I feel most alive when I'm in service to marginalized communities, whether it be single mothers living in poverty, people in jail who ended up there as a product of institutionalized oppression, children and families working hard to undo generational trauma through social emotional learning or refugees who are pursuing educational opportunities beyond the camps.

I'm amazed by how much I have been lifted and changed by my own 20-year practice which has evolved to be a deep reflection of many wonderful and also challenging lived experiences. â€‹ I’m motivated by the power of how self-care can impact the care of the wider community. I'm propelled to always be a student of the mind-body connection, especially as it relates to nervous system regulation and women's health.
